Palestine supports UN Committee statement
Jerusalem, May 3 (Hibya) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine announced that it welcomes the statement of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The statement emphasized that the law on the execution of Palestinian prisoners, approved by the Israeli Knesset on March 30, 2026, contains violations of international law.
Referring to the Committee’s assessment, the ministry stated that the measure “contains serious violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law” and is part of a discriminatory system against Palestinians. It was also noted that “these laws target only Palestinians and deepen discrimination within the justice system.”
The ministry called on the international community to reject the law and hold Israel accountable, arguing that the process represents “a violation of the right to life and the elimination of fair trial guarantees.” It also stated that Palestine will continue its initiatives within UN mechanisms and international courts.
