Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Shahin met in Baghdad with Ala Talabani, the Iraqi prime minister's adviser on women's affairs, as well as Iraqi women leaders and parliamentarians.

During the meeting, Talabani highlighted the resilience of Palestinian women and their role in defending the rights of their people, praising women's presence in areas where they assume responsibility.

Shahin, for her part, said they had discussed the achievements of Iraqi women despite difficult conditions, as well as the experience of the women's movement in Iraq. Addressing the violations faced by Palestinian women under Israeli occupation, particularly since the beginning of the war in Gaza, Shahin also outlined women's roles in Palestinian institutions and diplomacy.

Shahin emphasized that the Palestinian leadership attaches importance to empowering women and increasing their participation in decision-making mechanisms, stating that women's access to senior positions is being supported.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to improve communication and coordination between Palestinian and Iraqi women leaders, expand the exchange of experiences and explore joint initiatives to strengthen women's political and diplomatic participation.
