The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the incursion into Al-Aqsa Mosque by 3,228 settlers led by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.

The ministry said the action targeted the site's historical and legal status and called on the international community to intervene urgently.

According to the statement, the incursion, which it said took place under the protection of Israeli security forces, coincided with events marking the "Temple Destruction Memorial Day".

The statement further alleged that Talmudic rituals were performed during the incursion, Israeli flags were raised, and provocative demonstrations took place in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry argued that such practices violate the Islamic identity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and alleged that Israel is attempting to alter the site's existing historical and legal status.

The statement also claimed that Muslims' access to the place of worship was restricted, while settlers received extensive security protection.

It further alleged that these measures form part of an effort to impose a temporal and spatial division of the Haram al-Sharif compound.

The Palestinian leadership stressed that the entire 144-dunum Haram al-Sharif compound is exclusively a Muslim place of worship and argued that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.

The statement said Israel's actions are contrary to international law and United Nations Security Council Resolutions 476 and 478.

The ministry called on the international community not to limit itself to issuing condemnations, but to take binding measures to preserve the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque, strengthen international monitoring mechanisms, and guarantee freedom of worship.
