Qatar Condemns Israel's Move Against Ibrahim Mosque
Doha, July 18 (Hibya) – The State of Qatar condemned Israel’s plan to transfer the administration and control of Ibrahim Mosque to the Jewish Religious Council in the Kiryat Arba settlement.
In a statement from the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was reported that the State of Qatar strongly condemns the Israeli forces’ plan to transfer administration and control of Ibrahim Mosque from the Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs and Hebron Municipality to the Jewish Religious Council in the Kiryat Arba settlement.
The statement noted that Qatar considers this move a clear violation of international law and United Nations resolutions, as well as a deliberate provocation against Muslims worldwide.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates that Qatar categorically rejects any attempts to change the historical and legal status of Ibrahim Mosque and other holy sites in the occupied Palestinian territories. It calls on the international community to fulfill its moral and legal responsibilities by protecting the religious sanctities in Palestine and pressuring the Israeli occupation authorities to cease their efforts to erase the identity of the Palestinian people.”
