Russell: Conflicts put girls at greater risk
New York, March 8 (Hibya) - UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell drew attention to the risks faced by girls in global conflict and emergency zones, emphasizing the vital importance of access to education and healthcare services.
UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell spoke about the situation of girls in crisis regions.
Noting that the destructive impact of conflicts on social structures affects girls the most, Russell said, "Conflicts and emergencies put girls at greater risk. Education is disrupted."
Russell added, "Access to healthcare services becomes more difficult. Protection risks increase. The rights of girls must remain a priority."
Expressing UNICEF’s determination in this area, Russell stated, "UNICEF and its partners are working to support their safety, education, and future."
