Schoof: The Netherlands supports Curaçao’s energy transition
Amsterdam, November 8 (Hibya) – Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof stated that the Netherlands actively supports Curaçao’s energy transition.
Prime Minister Schoof noted that, since he was attending the COP30 Climate Summit in Belém, it made sense to make a short visit to Curaçao, adding, “It is important to maintain close contact with the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.”
Schoof emphasized that the Netherlands is actively supporting Curaçao’s energy transition, saying:
“For this reason, more than 60 million euros have been allocated to strengthen the electricity grid. Here, I met with Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas and the newly appointed Governor Mauritsz de Kort, who took office last week. We discussed the situation on the island and the geopolitical tensions in the region. I thank them for their warm welcome. I also visited the Parera Naval Base during my short stay here.”
