SCO: We oppose interference in Iran’s internal affairs
Beijing, January 16 (Hibya) – The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) expressed concern over developments in Iran and called for the crisis to be resolved through political and diplomatic means.
The SCO stated that it is deeply concerned about recent events in the Islamic Republic of Iran that have resulted in civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure.
While conveying condolences to the Iranian people and government, the organization noted that unilateral sanctions have severe negative effects on the country’s economic stability, worsen living conditions, and limit the Iranian authorities’ capacity to implement socio-economic development measures.
The SCO reiterated its opposition to any interference in Iran’s internal affairs and reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of respect for sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
It also called on all parties to exercise restraint, emphasizing that the current crisis should be resolved peacefully through political and diplomatic channels.
