SDF refused to withdraw in Aleppo
Damascus, January 11 (Hibya) – Syria’s interim government accused the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) of violating the withdrawal agreement.
According to CCTV, Syria’s interim government accused the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) of breaching the withdrawal agreement.
After efforts by Syrian authorities to secure the SDF’s withdrawal from the city failed, the Syrian army launched a security operation in Aleppo’s Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood.
Clashes reignited in some parts of the city with artillery fire and gunshots, and tanks were deployed at street intersections. The Syrian army continues fighting in Sheikh Maksoud, a neighborhood controlled by Kurdish groups since 2011, where fighters have refused to withdraw.
As the clashes escalated, humanitarian corridors were opened to ensure the safe evacuation of civilians from areas close to the front lines. Aleppo Media Directorate Director Abdulkarim Lela said the Aleppo Governorate provided buses, ambulances and temporary shelters.
