Sybiha: Russia rejects peace efforts, Europe must take concrete steps
Kyiv, July 15 (Hibya) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha participated online in the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting and provided an update on the latest situation in Ukraine.
Sybiha joined the meeting at the invitation of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and highlighted Russia's recent attacks on Ukrainian cities and the need for air defense.
He stated that Moscow is rejecting peace initiatives and instead escalating its aggression, pursuing three key goals: to buy time to prolong the war, delay sanctions, and exclude the U.S. from the peace process.
“We must not allow these goals to succeed,” Sybiha said, calling for certainty and decisive action at the transatlantic level. He emphasized the importance of Ukraine's EU accession process, joint defense capabilities, and increasing pressure on Russia.
Sybiha expressed that Ukraine desires nothing but a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace. Referring to Denmark’s EU presidency, he said, “I believe they have the will to take the right steps.”
