Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa held a roundtable meeting at the People’s Palace in Damascus with Niels Annen, State Representative of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the chairpersons and executives of a group of German companies, and members of the Syrian-German Business Council.

Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Syrians Abroad Asaad al-Shaibani, Energy Minister Mohammed Bashir, Governor of the Central Bank of Syria Sevvat Ruslan and various officials attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed steps aimed at strengthening economic and investment cooperation between Syria and Germany.

The talks covered expanding areas of partnership between the two countries and making use of existing investment opportunities in Syria, with reconstruction projects featuring prominently on the meeting’s agenda.

The discussions addressed joint projects that could be carried out as part of Syria’s reconstruction process. They also reviewed ways to increase the sharing of expertise across various sectors and develop knowledge transfer.

The meeting focused on developing economic relations between the two countries, expanding areas of investment and cooperation opportunities that would enable German companies to take advantage of opportunities in Syria.

In a statement, the Syrian administration said the meeting was part of contacts aimed at strengthening economic and investment cooperation and developing partnerships between the two countries.
