Tajani: Their sacrifice serves as a warning against violence
Rome, March 16 (Hibya) - Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani published a message on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the kidnapping of Aldo Moro and the killing of the five officers accompanying him.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani made a statement on the anniversary of the attack carried out by the Red Brigades on March 16, 1978, which is remembered as “one of the darkest moments” in Italy’s history.
Commemorating those who lost their lives in the attack, Tajani said: “Forty-eight years after that tragic day for Italy, we remember one of the darkest moments in the history of the Republic and honor those who died while defending the values of the Republic.”
Tajani recalled that bodyguards Oreste Leonardi and Domenico Ricci, along with agents Raffaele Iozzino, Giulio Rivera and Francesco Zizzi, lost their lives in the ambush.
Recalling that Aldo Moro was killed after 55 days in captivity, Minister Tajani emphasized that this tragedy constitutes a lesson for society.
Tajani said: “Their sacrifice serves as a warning against violence and requires us to renew our collective commitment to a more just, free and democratic society.”
