US President Trump said in a post on his social media account that the current situation in college sports needed to be fixed, stating: “There is great news on NIL. We are pleased to fix the terrible situation surrounding college sports.”

Commenting on the financial situation of universities, Trump said: “The situation is out of control and will lead to bankruptcies and disasters for many universities.” Trump also argued that universities would face financial difficulties if no limits were imposed.

Addressing women’s sports as well, Trump said: “This will be even worse for women’s sports than for football.” He said professional athletes should be prevented from returning to college sports in exchange for large sums of money to compete against younger athletes, calling this “dangerous and unfair.”

Regarding the vote in the US Senate, Trump said: “I want to thank every member of the United States Senate for a vote on which both parties came together. Both parties know how important this is.” Trump said he was looking forward to the final votes next week in the Senate and then in the House of Representatives.
