U.S. President Donald Trump made statements about the potential economic and national security consequences of the ongoing legal processes related to tariffs.

Drawing attention to the financial burden that would emerge in the event of an adverse Supreme Court ruling, Trump said: “If the Supreme Court, for any reason, rules against the United States on tariffs, the real amounts we would have to refund would reach hundreds of billions of dollars. It would be total chaos, and payment would become nearly impossible for our country.”

Emphasizing the complexity of the process, Trump added: “Anyone who says this can be done quickly and easily is giving the wrong answer to this very big and complex question. It would take years to understand who pays, when, and where. Remember, when America shines, the world shines too.”

Defining the issue as a matter of national security, Trump concluded: “In other words, if the Supreme Court rules against the United States on this national security opportunity, then we are finished.”
