UN OCHA: Security crisis in Sudan continues to affect civilians
Khartoum, April 23 (Hibya) – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that increasing insecurity in Sudan’s Darfur region continues to impact civilians.
A statement by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) included assessments of the humanitarian situation in Sudan.
The statement said that “increasing insecurity in Sudan’s Darfur region continues to have severe impacts on civilians.”
It was also reported that “on April 21, the town of Um Dukhn in Central Darfur state was hit by a drone attack, killing more than 10 civilians and injuring many others.”
Despite the challenges, humanitarian assistance continues, noting that “the United Nations and its partners continue to respond to needs across Sudan.”
The statement also referred to the work of the World Health Organization, stating that “a six-day vaccination campaign has reached its midpoint, aiming to reach more than 80,000 children aged 1 to 5 in West Darfur.”
