UNRWA: Pest spread in Gaza poses a serious public health risk
Gaza, April 27 (Hibya) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that the spread of rodents and pests in the Gaza Strip poses a serious public health risk.
UNRWA issued a statement regarding health conditions in the Gaza Strip.
The statement noted that the spread of rodents and other pests has become a serious public health problem.
It was stated that overcrowded shelters, inadequate waste management, and a lack of cleaning materials and equipment increase health risks, particularly raising the risk of infectious disease spread in displacement areas.
The statement added that UNRWA hygiene teams continue their work on camp cleaning, waste removal, and reducing health hazards.
Despite all challenges, activities continue, but the lack of equipment and materials, along with rising costs, makes operations more difficult.
