U.S. markets rebound after Trump says he will not use force in Greenland
Washington, 21 January (Hibya) – U.S. markets rebounded after President Trump said at the World Economic Forum that he would not use force to seize Greenland, easing market fears.
Shortly after the opening bell, the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by about 0.3 percent, while the Nasdaq also posted modest gains. As prices climbed, Treasury yields fell and the dollar pared its losses.
Investors were encouraged by the president’s statement: “People thought I would use force. I don’t have to use force. I don’t want to use force. I will not use force.”
Stocks had suffered a sharp decline on Tuesday amid tensions related to Greenland and threats of tariffs.
