Zelensky: France is ready to work on ballistic missile defense capabilities
Kyiv, May 16 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that during his phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, France expressed its readiness to work on strengthening Ukraine’s ballistic missile defense capabilities and supporting its air defense.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky drew attention to Russia’s air attacks against civilian settlements, the need to increase collective defense measures, and the military-strategic coordination between the two countries.
Referring to the overall course of the conversation and diplomatic relations, Zelensky said, “As always, we had a good and comprehensive conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron. We were able to discuss many issues, and I am grateful for our coordination in all areas.”
Emphasizing the common stance against Russia’s aggressive behavior and France’s defense support, Zelensky stated, “I thanked Emmanuel for principledly condemning Russia’s attacks on our cities and communities. France is ready to work on ballistic missile defense capabilities. This is a strong decision and an important step.”
Zelensky pointed to the agreement reached on increasing air defense capacity, concluding his statement with the words, “We also discussed increasing our ability to repel Russian attacks. Thank you for your readiness to strengthen our air defense.”
