Ukrainian President Zelensky stated that Russia conducted a large-scale attack overnight with more than 370 attack drones and 21 missiles of various types.

He noted that Kyiv and its surroundings, as well as the Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions, were targeted. “In Kharkiv, a maternity hospital, a dormitory housing displaced persons, a medical faculty and residential buildings were damaged. So far, dozens of people, including one child, have been reported injured. In the capital and surrounding areas, the Russians’ main targets were energy facilities. Unfortunately, this attack claimed the life of one person,” he said.

Zelensky emphasized that Russia’s attacks on energy infrastructure prove that there must be no delays in supplying air defense systems, saying: “These attacks cannot be ignored; a strong response must be given. We rely on the reaction and assistance of all our partners. Every missile produced for Patriot, NASAMS and other systems helps protect critical infrastructure and enables people to withstand the winter cold. We must ensure the full implementation of everything agreed with President Trump in Davos regarding air defense.”
