Crosetto: Spain’s defense spending increased by 50 percent
Rome, April 27 (Hibya) – Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto stated in a post including SIPRI data that Spain’s defense spending in 2025 increased by 50 percent, reaching 40.2 billion dollars.

Citing the source, Crosetto said: “According to data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Spain’s defense spending increased by 50 percent in 2025.”
According to the data, spending reached 40.2 billion dollars (over 34 billion euros), corresponding to 2.1 percent of gross domestic product.
It was noted that these data were compiled by SIPRI based on official budget documents of countries, government data and reports of international organizations.
The statement also emphasized that the increase is part of the rising trend in defense spending across Europe.
It was reported that total military spending in Europe increased by 14 percent to 864 billion dollars, while global spending rose to 2.89 trillion dollars.
