Czech Foreign Minister Lipavsky said in a statement that his term has come to an end. “Today I am closing an important chapter and at the same time entering a new one. Today I handed over my duties to my successor, and my mandate as foreign minister has ended,” he said.

Expressing hope that the new minister will continue the current course of Czech diplomacy, Lipavsky stated: “I hope the new minister will continue the direction Czech diplomacy has taken so far, further strengthen transatlantic relations and relations within the European Union, and preserve the Czech Republic’s good reputation in the world.”

Emphasizing that he is leaving his post “with a clear conscience,” Lipavsky said Czech diplomacy is in good shape and operates in line with the law and open values. He noted that during his tenure, many important steps were taken to strengthen the country’s security and the Czech Republic’s international position.

Lipavsky also said: “We successfully managed the presidency of the Council of the European Union and were among Ukraine’s key supporters.” He thanked those who placed their trust in him, saying it was an honor to serve the Czech Republic.

He also recalled that Czechia was among Ukraine’s important supporters during its EU Council presidency.
