Guterres said in a statement on his social media account that the current situation in the Middle East is critical.
Stating that all actions that harm civilians must stop, Guterres stressed that humanitarian operations must be allowed to proceed safely and without obstruction.
Guterres said navigation rights and freedoms must be fully restored and respected, adding: “The only way forward is de-escalation, diplomacy and dialogue.”
