Brasilia, September 16 (Hibya) - Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva highlighted the scale of the country's gaming and e-sports sector, saying the field has the potential to create skilled employment for young people.

Lula said they also discussed the gaming industry during his conversation with Caue and Load on the Desce A Letra Show.
Stating that Brazil holds a strong position worldwide in gaming and e-sports, Lula said the country has more than 100 million players and that the sector generates annual revenue of 13 billion Brazilian reais.
Lula said Brazil is Latin America's largest gaming market and a global reference, emphasizing that the gaming industry is a strategic field that goes beyond entertainment.
Lula said the government has begun addressing the gaming industry within the framework of policies on culture, sports, technology and opportunity creation.
Listing the steps taken in this context, Lula said, “We approved the Legal Framework for Games,” adding that the regulation provides players with new opportunities under the Audiovisual and Rouanet laws.
Lula said players have been included in the Brazilian Classification of Occupations, thereby securing and expanding the rights of those working in the sector.
Lula also announced that an E-Sports Directorate had been established within the Ministry of Sports.
Lula said investments in the sector would continue with the aim of transforming young people's interest in gaming and e-sports into a future of innovation and skilled employment.
