Lahbib: Ukraine remains among the EU’s core priorities
Brussels, December 15 (Hibya) – European Union (EU) Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib said that Ukraine’s energy supply security and resilience continue to be among the EU’s core priorities.
EU Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Lahbib stated that Ukraine’s energy supply security and resilience continue to rank among the European Union’s core priorities.
Noting that the EU Civil Protection Mechanism has successfully completed its most comprehensive single operation to date, during which an entire thermal power plant was transported from Lithuania to Ukraine, Lahbib said:
“Within the scope of this operation, 145 shipments were carried out, a total of 2,418 tonnes of equipment were transported, 40 out-of-gauge transports were completed, and the process was conducted through intensive and meticulous coordination over 11 months. This operation was implemented to ensure the sustainability of Ukraine’s energy system despite the Russian Federation’s relentless attacks on energy infrastructure.”
Lahbib added: “I extend my thanks and appreciation to all governments—especially Lithuania—as well as to the relevant institutions, stakeholders and dedicated staff who contributed to this important operation.”
