Meloni: With the 2026 Budget Law, we continue to build Italy’s future
Rome, October 18 (Hibya) – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said after the approval of the 2026 Budget Law by the Council of Ministers that the new budget represents an important step toward strengthening the country’s future.
Meloni described the €18.7 billion budget as “serious, balanced, and responsible,” stating that resources would be directed toward families, employment, businesses, and the healthcare sector.
The Prime Minister explained that €1.6 billion in additional resources had been allocated to support families, aiming to increase birth rates and protect first-home ownership. Around €5 billion will go to workers and wages, including a reduction in income tax (Irpef) for the middle class, additional payments, support for working mothers, and the renewal of collective contracts.
Meloni noted that €8 billion will be invested in businesses to foster the growth and competitiveness of the production system. In the health sector, an additional €2.4 billion will be added to the €5 billion already allocated in the previous budget, for a total of €7.4 billion in new funding.
Meloni said: “In a difficult period, we chose to focus our resources on areas that truly matter to the Italian people while maintaining fiscal responsibility. I thank the majority and everyone who contributed to this result.”
