Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani held a phone call with his Omani counterpart, Badr Albusaidi, during which bilateral relations and regional developments were reviewed.

Referring to the contribution of his visit to Oman to bilateral relations, Tajani said: “I had a constructive phone call with Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi to discuss the excellent relations with Oman, further strengthened by the Prime Minister’s visit to the country yesterday, as well as the situation in Iran.”

Emphasizing the critical role played by Oman in reducing tensions in the Middle East, Tajani stated: “We support Oman’s role in encouraging dialogue between the United States and Iran, including on the nuclear issue, to prevent further escalation and to ensure peace and stability in the Middle East.”

Also assessing developments regarding Gaza, Minister Tajani said with regard to Italy’s role in the solution process: “On Gaza, I reiterated Italy’s commitment to the reconstruction and training of the Palestinian leadership.”
