Ten countries issue joint statement on Gaza
Ramallah, December 31 (Hibya) – The foreign ministers of ten countries, including Canada, France, the United Kingdom and Japan, issued a joint statement over the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza.
According to CCTV, the foreign ministers of Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Japan, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom expressed deep concern on Tuesday about the scale of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
A statement released by the UK Foreign Office stressed that as winter conditions worsen, civilians in the region are struggling to survive amid freezing cold and heavy rainfall.
The statement noted that civilians in Gaza are facing serious difficulties in accessing food and healthcare facilities, and called on the Israeli government to take action.
Among the demands directed at Israel are opening border crossings for the flow of aid and lifting restrictions on goods limited on the grounds of dual use.
In a recent statement in Ramallah, the Palestinian government also called for allowing the entry of mobile homes and shelter materials into Gaza to protect residents from storms and cold.
