Trump's Travel Ban on Citizens of 12 Countries Takes Effect
Washington, June 9 (Hibya) – A sweeping new travel ban imposed by President Donald Trump on citizens of 12 countries went into effect Monday at 07:00 Turkish time.
The executive order signed by Trump last week restricts entry into the United States for citizens of Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.
Citizens of seven other countries — Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela — will face partial travel restrictions.
The U.S. president stated that the list could be revised if "material improvements" are made and that other countries may be added "as global threats emerge."
