Ukraine: Sanctions against Russia should be strengthened
Kyiv, September 19 (Hibya) – Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that U.S. President Donald Trump signed into law the Lindsey O. Graham sanctions legislation, strengthening sanctions tools against Russia and Iran.
In a statement, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the legislation was signed by Trump after being passed by the U.S. House of Representatives with bipartisan support.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said the law sends an important message in terms of increasing pressure on Russia, stating: “U.S. leadership sends a clear message to the world that sanctions against Russia need to be strengthened. We expect stronger steps from our partners in the EU and from other G7 countries. International pressure on Russia needs to be well coordinated in order to force Moscow to end the war.”
The ministry’s statement thanked the bipartisan leadership involved in drafting the legislation and the members of Congress for their support.
