UN High Commissioner Türk calls on governments to uphold justice
New York, July 17 (Hibya) – United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk called on governments to uphold the rule of law and make justice accessible to all on Criminal Justice Day.
In his statement for Criminal Justice Day, Türk stated that the International Criminal Court was established to ensure that the most serious crimes do not go unanswered and that no one is above the law.
He emphasized that 27 years later, this principle and the international system created to support it are under threat, saying: “On Criminal Justice Day, I call on governments to uphold the rule of law and make justice accessible to everyone.”
