UN: Prevention is the most effective way against outbreaks
New York, December 27 (Hibya) – The United Nations (UN) noted that major infectious diseases and outbreaks can have devastating effects on people’s lives, emphasizing that preventive measures must be strengthened to avert potential future pandemics.
In a UN statement, it was stressed that fighting outbreaks is possible not only at times of crisis, but also through measures taken before risks emerge. The statement was shared with the public as part of the International Day of Epidemic Preparedness, observed annually on December 27.
On this occasion, the United Nations called on countries and relevant institutions to be better prepared for outbreaks through early warning systems, strong health infrastructures, and international cooperation.
