WHO: 30 more patients medically evacuated from Gaza
Geneva, October 30 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that 30 more patients and 60 companions have been medically evacuated from the Gaza Strip.
Ghebreyesus said that the evacuated patients will receive necessary medical care in the United Arab Emirates, Romania, and the Netherlands. The WHO Director-General thanked the governments of the UAE, Romania, and the Netherlands, as well as medical personnel and the European Union’s Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECHO), for their support in this process.
According to the statement, since October 2023, WHO has supported the medical evacuation of approximately 8,000 patients, more than 5,500 of whom were children.
Ghebreyesus emphasized that over 16,500 patients in Gaza are in need of urgent and specialized medical care, calling for the opening of all evacuation corridors, particularly toward the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
