Yermak: Russia must face reality and take concrete steps for peace
Kyiv, August 1 (Hibya) – Head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office Andriy Yermak stated that despite Russia’s calls for peace, it avoids taking real action. He recalled that Moscow did not respond to the ceasefire proposal made by the United States in March, which Ukraine accepted.
Yermak emphasized that despite Russia's peace rhetoric, no real steps have been taken: “It is long past time for the Russians to stop empty talk and illusions and face reality.”
He stated that a leaders’ summit is possible, but it is Russia that refuses it.
Yermak called Moscow’s “peace” statements insincere as missile attacks continue.
Referring to the March ceasefire offer proposed by the U.S. and accepted by Ukraine, he asked, “Where is that ceasefire?”
Yermak added that U.S. President Joe Biden is making major efforts for peace, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky follows the principle of “peace through strength.” He called on Russia: “It’s time to get off the bench and be more specific.”
