China urges Iran and Israel to return to dialogue
Stockholm, June 16 (Hibya) – Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a Monday briefing that Beijing is urging Iran and Israel to take immediate steps to reduce tensions and return to the path of dialogue and negotiation.
The spokesperson said: “We call on all parties to take immediate steps to reduce tensions as soon as possible, to prevent the region from descending into further chaos, and to create conditions to return to the correct path of dialogue and negotiation.”
On the night of June 13, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a large-scale operation called “Operation Rising Lion,” during which the Israeli Air Force (IAF) conducted strikes on military targets and locations associated with Iran’s nuclear program. Several waves of attacks were carried out across various parts of Iran, including Tehran, resulting in the killing of several top Iranian military officials, including the Chief of General Staff and a commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Several nuclear facilities, including Natanz and Fordow, as well as Iranian military positions in different parts of the country, were also targeted.
