Hungarian Prime Minister Orban travels to the United States
Budapest, November 6 (Hibya) – Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said they are heading to Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump to open a new chapter in Hungary–U.S. relations.
Prime Minister Orban stated that following President Trump’s re-election, new opportunities have emerged in relations between Hungary and the United States.
He noted that the first ten months of this year represented the initial phase of repairing the damage done to Hungary and bilateral relations during the Biden administration, and said:
“Politically motivated sanctions have been lifted, U.S. funding for NGOs operating against Hungary has ended, and we can once again travel to the United States without visas. Thus, the first stage has been completed.”
Orban emphasized that he is traveling to Washington with President Trump to open a new chapter in Hungary–U.S. relations, adding: “Our goal is to establish a strategic partnership that includes cooperation in energy, investments, defense, and consultations regarding the post–Russia–Ukraine war period. This will be an agreement based on mutual interests and serving the benefit of every Hungarian citizen.”
