Iran denies plans to withdraw from NPT
Stockholm, June 16 (Hibya) – The Iranian parliament has denied reports that a proposal to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) is under consideration.
According to Iran's state news agency Mehr, the parliament denied reports of plans for Iran to withdraw from the NPT.
The agency wrote: “The Islamic Consultative Assembly announced today that no bill regarding withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is being considered, and that the news published on this matter is incorrect.”
Earlier today, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei stated that Tehran continues to adhere to its NPT obligations and believes that no West Asian country should possess nuclear weapons.
