Italian Prime Minister Meloni holds phone call with Japanese counterpart
Rome, November 6 (Hibya) – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held a phone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
Meloni announced that she had a phone call with Japan’s new Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi.
She stated that she wanted to congratulate Takaichi on her appointment and on the fact that, for the first time in Japan’s history, the government is led by a woman. “During the meeting, we also reaffirmed our shared desire to further strengthen our bilateral cooperation, starting with the economic, trade, cultural, technological, and defense sectors,” Meloni said.
Meloni added that the two sides agreed to work toward holding a meeting next year, taking the opportunity of the 160th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Italy and Japan, to be celebrated in 2026.
