Leyen: We discussed the tense geopolitical situation in the Middle East with Trump
Brussels, June 14 (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that she discussed the tense geopolitical situation in the Middle East with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Commission President Leyen said they had a good meeting with President Trump ahead of the G7 Summit.
She noted that they addressed the need for close coordination regarding the tense geopolitical situation in the Middle East and its impact on energy markets. “We also discussed the situation in Ukraine, the necessity of a ceasefire, and the importance of maintaining pressure on Russia,” she added.
Finally, Leyen stated that they assessed the ongoing trade negotiations and reaffirmed their commitment to reach a good agreement before July 9.
