Macron spoke with Brazilian President Silva
Paris, August 20 (Hibya) – French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone call with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
French President Macron announced that he had spoken with Brazilian President Silva.
He stated that during the conversation, following Monday’s meeting in Washington, he reiterated the need to preserve the central role of multilateralism in achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, as well as the importance of providing strong security guarantees for Ukraine and Europe. Macron added: “Ahead of COP30, to be held in Belém at the end of 2025, we discussed major global issues, particularly environmental challenges and the fight against poverty.”
On the issue of Mercosur, Macron reiterated to his counterpart that he was ready for an ambitious EU–Mercosur agreement, as long as it protects the interests of French and European agriculture and serves their economies.
