Macron: "A new military operation against Gaza would lead to disaster"
Paris, August 20 (Hibya) - French President Emmanuel Macron gave his assessment of the situation in Gaza following phone calls with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Macron warned that Israel’s planned new military operation against Gaza could lead to a major disaster for both Israelis and Palestinians. He emphasized that such a move would drag the region into a permanent war and stressed that the problem could only be overcome with a political solution.
The French President stated that the following steps must be taken to end the crisis:
"Achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, releasing all hostages, massive delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, disarming the Palestinian Islamic Movement, and strengthening the Palestinian Authority in Gaza."
Macron added that to achieve these goals, France would work together with Jordan, Egypt, and other regional and international partners, highlighting the need to launch an international stabilization mission for Gaza.
