Officials from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that the war Russia continues to wage has brought destruction both to civilians and to the urban fabric of the region.

In the Ministry’s statement it was said: “Russian propaganda calls this ‘liberation’, but in reality it is the exact opposite: the eradication of existence, of normal life, and even of the possibility of having a home. Most of the cities that Russia has razed to the ground are in eastern Ukraine, in our country’s Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Many of these cities, once full of life, are now completely empty.”

Ukraine stressed that it and its international partners are striving to achieve peace, yet the number of cities destroyed this year has increased. The statement continued: “Russia remains the sole reason this war continues and is deliberately blocking every path to peace. The world cannot accept this. Together, we must end the war, stop Russia, and ensure that we never again experience such destruction.”
