US, Israel, and Syria Issue Joint Statement After Paris Security Talks
Beijing, January 7 (Hibya) - The US Department of State issued a joint statement on Tuesday following a trilateral meeting in Paris between the US, Israel, and Syria regarding security arrangements.
According to CCTV, the statement noted that senior Israeli and Syrian officials met in Paris under US auspices, with discussions focusing on respect for Syria's sovereignty and stability, Israel's security, and the well-being of both countries.
The statement also mentioned that Israel and Syria reaffirmed their commitment to achieving lasting security and stability arrangements for both countries. The parties decided to establish a joint integration mechanism - a special communication unit - under US oversight to ensure immediate and continuous coordination on intelligence sharing, military tension reduction, diplomatic contacts, and commercial opportunities.
The mechanism was emphasized as being created to quickly address disputes and prevent misunderstandings.
The Israeli Prime Minister's Office also confirmed the same day that talks between Israel and Syria had resumed with US support.
