Zelensky: Cooperation with Moldova is strengthening in security and on the path to the EU
Kyiv, April 26 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that they hosted Moldovan President Maia Sandu and expressed his satisfaction with the visit.
Zelensky emphasized that it is significant that the visit coincides with the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, noting that the solidarity and sacrifice shown by the people after the disaster protected not only Ukraine but all of Europe from a greater radiation threat.
He stated that security issues were the top priority during the talks and said that they conducted comprehensive assessments on cross-border cooperation, as well as the protection and development of infrastructure and energy systems.
Zelensky also noted that the two leaders discussed a joint roadmap for the European Union membership process, adding that efforts are ongoing to open the six negotiation chapters as soon as possible.
Emphasizing that Ukraine’s support to Moldova in the field of security will continue, Zelensky stated that developments in the Transnistria region are being closely monitored. He also expressed readiness to further develop trilateral cooperation mechanisms with Romania.
In his statement, Zelensky thanked Moldova and its people and expressed satisfaction with the support given to Ukraine and contributions to regional cooperation.
