Metsola said they support the people standing up against the regime in Iran.

“Even if the regime tries to limit communication, the world still sees the Iranian people standing bravely. We hear their demands for dignity, pride and freedom. We stand with them,” she said.

Stressing that this generation is at a moment of writing history, Metsola said that mere verbal support for protesters and political prisoners still detained is not enough.

She emphasized the need for concrete steps, including recognizing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization and urgently expanding EU sanctions against all individuals and groups supporting the regime through repression, violence and killings.

Metsola concluded her message by saying, “Iran will be free.”
