Schoof assessed the talks held at the White House
Amsterdam, August 19 (Hibya) – Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof made a statement regarding the talks held at the White House.
Prime Minister Schoof stated that the White House talks led to cautious optimism. Emphasizing the importance of the visible unity between the United States and Europe, Schoof said: "The involvement of the U.S. in future security guarantees is an important step. A meeting between President Zelensky and President Putin must take place sooner or later."
Schoof stressed that Putin must show genuine commitment to lasting peace, ending Russian aggression, and halting violence against the Ukrainian people, adding:
"There is still much work to be done. We will continue strengthening security guarantees and maintaining continuous pressure on Russia, partly by preparing a new and tough sanctions package. The Netherlands and other European countries will continue to provide uninterrupted support to Ukraine so that it can keep defending itself against Russian aggression."
