Times of India: Eight killed in temple stampede in India
Stockholm, July 27 (Hibya) – According to The Times of India, at least eight people were killed and 34 injured in a stampede at the Mansa Devi Temple in India.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning on one of the busiest pedestrian routes leading to the temple. The victims reportedly included 20 men, eight women, and seven children. Two of the injured are in critical condition, while the others are being treated at the district hospital.
The report said, “At first glance, the incident appears to have been triggered by rumors of a snapped power line. A comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.”
Following the tragedy, the state power distribution company Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) announced that it inspected the entire infrastructure and found no electric leakage or malfunction.
