World's largest wind turbine "takes wing"
Copenhagen, May 5 (Hibya) - The world's largest commercial onshore wind turbine is nearly operational.
Jens Jørgen Birch of Skovgaard Energy, which is leading the construction of the wind turbine at Sydhavnen in Thyborøn, Denmark, said that the wind turbine blades will be assembled on Sunday morning.
The 15-megawatt wind turbine will be 266 meters high when fully assembled.
The turbine not only sets a record as the most significant commercial wind turbine on land. It will also be the world's largest wind turbine collective with 2,800 local partners.
