Carney calls for return to the negotiation table
Ottawa, June 22 (Hibya) – Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney called on all relevant parties to immediately return to the negotiation table and find a diplomatic solution to end the crisis in the Middle East.
Carney stated that Iran’s nuclear program poses a serious threat to international security and reaffirmed that Canada has always made it clear that Iran must not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
He noted that last night's U.S.-led military intervention aimed to reduce this threat but emphasized that the situation in the Middle East remains highly volatile.
He added: “Stability in the region is a priority. Canada calls on the parties involved to immediately return to the negotiation table and find a diplomatic solution to this crisis. As agreed by the G7 leaders in Kananaskis, resolving the crisis in Iran must lead to broader de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza.”
