German Chancellor Merz: Our fight for innocent detainees will continue
Berlin, June 21 (Hibya) – German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he welcomed the release of Belarusian opposition figure Sergej Tichanowski and 13 other political prisoners.
Merz described the release as a positive development, but emphasized that the Belarusian regime still holds many innocent people in prison. “Today my thoughts are with those who are still unjustly detained,” he said, adding, “We will continue to fight for their release.”
