Grandi: The courage of returning Syrian refugees is inspiring
Geneva, June 21 (Hibya) - UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi met with Syrian refugees returning from Jordan in the city of Dara’a, Syria.
Grandi said he witnessed the determination of people to rebuild their lives on lands devastated by war.
“These people are returning because they love their country. This is a great example of courage,” said Grandi, adding he was moved by the words of the returning refugees.
Grandi emphasized that the UNHCR is working with local authorities to support the reintegration of returning Syrians, and that ensuring safe and dignified returns remains a top priority.
