IAEA board to hold emergency meeting on Monday
Stockholm, June 22 (Hibya) – The UN nuclear watchdog chief has called for an emergency meeting on Monday following the U.S. attack on Iran.
Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN’s nuclear watchdog, said he is convening an emergency meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors on Monday, after the U.S. struck Iranian nuclear sites on Sunday.
Grossi wrote on X: “In light of the emergency in Iran, I am convening an emergency meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors tomorrow.”
The announcement came shortly after Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization chief Mohammad Eslami sent a letter to the IAEA, requesting an investigation into the U.S.'s “illegal action” and urging Grossi to end his “inaction”, condemn the U.S. attacks, and take “appropriate” steps.
